Leading hashrate marketplace NiceHash is proud to host the first Bitcoin conference in Maribor, NiceHashX, to announce which offers an interesting and little-known entry into the European crypto market. Dubbed the “Bitcoin Conference on the Sunny Side of the Alps,” the event will take place in Maribor for two days on November 8th and 9th to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the hashrate marketplace founded in 2014 by two Slovenian students.
One of the main goals of the conference is to encourage people to consider Maribor and Slovenia in general as a hub for Bitcoin. Over 1,000 companies in the Central European country already accept BTC as a payment methodand the event will feature several local companies from Maribor that are actively using this technology. In fact, one of the event’s several stages is dedicated to showcasing these local businesses.
NiceHash-CEO Vladimir Hozjan says:
“We are excited to show the world that Slovenia is at the forefront of Bitcoin adoption in Europe. With 10 years of experience in the industry now, we have seen a phenomenal growth in interest in the use of Bitcoin here in Maribor and across the country. Join us as we celebrate and experience Bitcoin in its purest form, used by everyday people, alongside some of the best minds in the industry.”
The conference boasts an impressive list of speakers, including prominent figures such as Saifedean Ammous, author of The Bitcoin Standard, ex-Cointelegraph reporter Joe Hall (Nakamoto), Martin Kuchař, CEO of the BTC Prague conference, Pierre Corbin, co-founder of Bitcoin FilmFest, Jameson Lopp, CTO of CASA, and many others. Topics of discussion include European Bitcoin adoption and regulation, the mining and energy situation, and the future of exchanges in an age of increasing regulation.
Attendees can look forward to an exciting exhibition area, a trio of main stages and many side events including an official after-party with a VIP dinner and music show. In addition, NiceHash has launched a BTC payment process with local traders, which will be demonstrated at the conference and in the city of Maribor.
Nestled in the foothills of the Pohorje Mountains, a popular ski resort, and with nearby vineyards, Maribor is a worthwhile travel destination known for its centuries-old architecture, cozy cafes and relaxed atmosphere. Maribor was named European Capital of Culture in 2012.
Often overlooked in the European crypto scene, Slovenia has the second largest number of blockchain startups after Switzerland and a very high Bitcoin adoption rate per capita. The country boasts many Bitcoin-related places, such as BTC City in Ljubljana and the Satoshi Monument. The many businesses that already accept Bitcoin include restaurants, hotels, cafes and supermarkets, directly exposing end consumers to crypto. The number of Slovenian crypto customers should reach around 400,000 by 2028 which corresponds to around a fifth of the population.
NiceHash is a leading player in the mining sector of the crypto industry. Founded in Slovenia in 2014, the company is the world’s largest hashrate marketplace and has made it easier for millions of customers worldwide to get started with Bitcoin. NiceHash offers a comprehensive range of mining and Bitcoin payment services and launched the world’s first fully automated Lightning payouts for miners in 2024.
