The second day of the 2026 Para Pan Pacific Championships delivered another two world-record performances, both in the 100-meter breaststroke, along with several national records and three relay victories for Australia.
Two More World Records Fall in the 100 Breaststroke
After two world records were set on the opening day Friday, two more fell on Saturday.
In the women’s SB4 100 breaststroke, 18-year-old Alessandra Oliveira Dos Santos broke her own SB4 world record with a time of 1:40.63. The performance ranked ninth overall among all participants in the event and lowered her previous world-best time of 1:41.47, set in December 2025, by nearly one second.
American Olivia Chambers also set an American record in the S12 category of the same event, finishing in 1:18.25 to lower the previous national standard by nearly half a second.
In the following men’s 100 breaststroke, Japan’s Naohide Yamaguchi lowered his own SB14 world record of 1:02.53, set in August 2025. Yamaguchi won the event with the fastest overall time of 1:02.38.
American Records Continue to Fall
Several more American records were broken in Walnut.
Katie Kubiak, who set a world record on day one, lowered the American record in the women’s S5 50 backstroke twice on day two. She first touched in 40.69 during the preliminaries before improving to 40.18 in the final.
Aiden Stivers followed a similar path in the men’s S9 100 breaststroke. He initially lowered his own national record with a preliminary time of 1:10.43, then set an even faster mark of 1:09.90 in the final.
Aspen Shelton broke the women’s SB2 American record in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.42, finishing nearly two seconds faster than the previous top American mark.
Dillon Mezey added an American record in the men’s S3 50 backstroke, finishing in 59.27. Josie Dolan also set a national standard in the preliminaries of the women’s SB9 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:21.68.
Australia Sweeps the Mixed Relays
Australia dominated the relay events, winning gold in all three mixed relays contested on day two.
The Australian teams won the mixed 4×100 freestyle relay in the S14 category in 3:45.33 and the 34-point category in 4:07.64. Australia also took first place in the mixed 4×50 freestyle relay for the 20-point category with a time of 3:01.63.
