Space and Time releases Sub-Second ZK Prover as open source

  • Space and Time (SxT), the Verifiable Compute Layer for AI x Blockchain, today released Proof of SQL, a zero-knowledge prover, on GitHub.
  • Proof of SQL is orders of magnitude faster than modern zero knowledge VMs and coprocessors.

Proof of SQL is a novel ZK proof developed by SxT that cryptographically guarantees that SQL database queries were correctly calculated using untampered data. With Proof of SQL, developers can calculate both onchain and offchain datasets in a trustless manner and report the result back to their smart contract during a transaction to power sophisticated DeFi protocols with data-driven smart contracts. Dr. Jay White, co-founder and head of research at SxT and inventor of the Proof of SQL protocol, explains:

Proof of SQL im August in an alpha version for a select group of SxT customers released. With today’s release on GitHub, the protocol is now available to the public. Community members can join demSpace and Time Studio perform trustworthy queries with SxT and developers can use the repository directly from GitHub download .

Proof of SQL is the first ZK prover that runs in less than a second. In the latest benchmarks conducted by the SxT Cryptography team, the protocol can execute analytical queries over 100-row tables in less than a second on a single GPU and aggregate over millions of rows of indexed data within Ethereum block time on a single NVIDIA T4.

Proof of SQL provides a much more powerful architecture for processing large amounts of data than generalized ZK-VMs and co-processors. While generalized ZK-VMs provide an extensible solution for arbitrary computations, Proof of SQL data processing is slow.

Proof of SQL can be integrated into these ZK VMs to provide verifiable source data from which arbitrary code can be executed. Space and Time encourages and invites the community and other ZK-Proof development teams to contribute to the repo. The prover can work in any SQL database, for example Google BigQuery, be integratedcentralized or decentralized, and already secures some of the most well-known Web3 applications, financial institutions and companies.
