Monero Surpasses Chainlink in Market Cap to Enter Top 10 Cryptocurrencies
In terms of market capitalization, Monero (XMR) has edged past Chainlink (LINK), pushing the privacy-focused token into the top 10 largest cryptocurrencies. The two assets are moving in radically different directions, with Monero estimated at a $10.07 billion valuation, just above Chainlink’s $9.96 billion.
Chainlink Shows Strong Weekly Gains
Chainlink has performed well on its own merits. LINK has surged nearly 18% over the last seven days and approximately 8.7% in the past 24 hours. Following a swift recovery from the $8–$9 range in August, its daily chart displays a breakout above the $13 level.
Monero’s Monthly Rally Drives Overtake
Monero’s journey has been distinct. Although XMR has dipped about 1.4% over the last week, it maintained enough market capitalization to surpass LINK due to a much stronger rally over the previous month. XMR climbed from roughly $350 in early August to around $570 recently. Despite recent consolidation, Monero remains in a strong technical uptrend, trading well above its 20-day moving average near $470 and its longer-term averages between $381 and $414, at approximately $536.
Technical Indicators Signal Overbought Conditions for Both
Both assets currently show overbought signals, suggesting a higher risk of a short-term correction while momentum remains high. An RSI around 70 for Monero indicates sustained buying pressure. In the short term, Chainlink appears even more strained. LINK’s 20-day moving average sits near $11.15, but its recent breakout pushed it toward $13.50. With the RSI rising above 75, the asset is clearly in overbought territory. The next obvious resistance area now lies in the $13.50–$14 range.
Ranking Remains Tight as Competition Continues
Monero is far from guaranteed a permanent spot in the top 10. The gap between XMR and LINK is only about $110 million, or slightly more than 1% of their respective valuations. Given that LINK has significantly outperformed XMR over the last week, even a slight continuation of the current divergence could flip their positions again. However, Monero currently holds the lead. The privacy-focused cryptocurrency has returned to the market’s highest-capitalization group thanks to its 2025 rally, but LINK is close enough to make the ranking a contest rather than a clear takeover.
