TikTok creator Livi shared a story about a recent date who appeared dismissive of her social media career. She recounted the experience in a July 22 “get ready with me” makeup video that had received more than 39,000 likes at the time of publication.
Livi described it as “the worst date” she had been on recently and said she had committed “the most evil thing” she had done on a date because of the man’s behavior.
Livi says date mocked her social media career
Livi said she had matched with the man, whom she called “Brad” in the video, more than once on a dating app. After their first date went well, they arranged to meet again.
At first, Livi was vague about her job and told Brad only that social media was her full-time work. She explained that other creator friends had advised her not to immediately disclose that she was an influencer.
During their second date, Livi said she told Brad she was stressed because of work. He responded by asking how difficult it could be to pick up a phone and record a video. He later asked how much she earned from brand deals.
Although Livi did not reveal her exact rates, she said the question made her more annoyed. She said Brad eventually pushed her over the edge by describing her work as “dilly dallying all day long.”

She made Brad guess her greatest fear
Livi said she excused herself to the restroom and decided she was going to “ruin everybody’s night.” When she returned, she began asking Brad questions as part of a game, including details she had previously shared with him.
When Brad could not remember her greatest fear, Livi gave him three chances to guess it. She said that if he failed, he would have to take an Uber home. Brad missed all three guesses, and, according to Livi, he ultimately called an Uber.
Livi acknowledged that her response was “a little bit insane,” but insisted that Brad had repeatedly teased her, either directly or indirectly, about her career. She concluded that he had been unnecessarily rude about her work.
TikTok users debate the date story
Many TikTok users found Livi’s account entertaining and did not think she had acted unreasonably. One commenter wrote, “This isn’t even bad on your part.” Another jokingly advised her to be “worse next time.”
Some viewers interpreted Brad’s comments as signs of insecurity or jealousy. One said he was trying to “knock you down a peg”. The phrase “dilly dally” also stood out in the comments. One viewer called it a new “ick”, while another said Livi should be able to “dilly dally” because her work pays her bills.
Other commenters criticized Livi’s reaction and questioned why she felt the need to conceal her profession instead of describing herself as working in marketing or communications. Some argued that if someone must hide their career to be accepted by a potential partner, the relationship is probably not worth pursuing.
