A viral TikTok video ranking Walmart jobs has sparked debate among retail workers, with creator @rackksinmyypurple naming cashier and Online Grocery Pickup, commonly known as OGP, as the two worst positions at the company.
The video had more than 480,000 views and over 3,200 comments at the time of writing. The TikToker said his ranking was based on his own experience working at Walmart and was aimed at people considering entry-level retail jobs.
Why he ranked cashier as Walmart’s worst job
The creator said cashier was the worst position because of its repetitive duties and strict workplace rules. “You’re gonna be sitting there for eight hours straight doing not sh-t, but just listen to customers b—-ing complain while you’re scanning their f–king s–t,” he said.
He said cashiers cannot use their phones or listen to music while working, and that bathroom breaks are also limited. He described the role as one involving close supervision from managers. “Then you got two, three managers that are just breathing down your f’king neck,” he said.
The TikToker said his experience as a Walmart cashier was worse than working in other retail settings, including a gas station. He discouraged viewers from taking cashier jobs in any industry, saying the position was especially difficult because of the volume of customer complaints and the limited control workers have during a shift.
Walmart OGP has fewer customer interactions
He described OGP as more enjoyable overall because employees face less direct management oversight and have fewer customer interactions. He called it ‘the funniest job in the f—— world.’ The role involves retrieving and organizing customers’ online orders throughout the store.
However, he said OGP also has drawbacks. Employees cannot accept tips and may receive frequent complaints about how groceries are bagged or placed in customers’ vehicles. “People complain about the way you bag their f–king groceries,” he said.
He also said OGP workers must immediately clean up items that fall from delivery crates or risk being formally coached by management. According to his account, the job requires near-constant movement during a shift, with only a short break period built into the workday.
Workers debate the hardest and easiest Walmart jobs
The creator gave an honorable mention to Walmart employees who unload delivery trucks, describing the position as the company’s most physically demanding job. He compared the work with general warehouse labor.
Comments on the video included responses from people who said they had worked in the positions discussed. One commenter agreed that customer behavior, rather than the cashier duties themselves, was the main challenge. They wrote, “Cashier ain’t hard but dealing with the people is atrocious.”
Another commenter said the video matched their partner’s experience working in OGP. They wrote, “My girl work at ogp and constantly complaining” [sic].
A third commenter said cart attendant was a better option than the jobs featured in the video. They wrote, “Cart attendant the best one we sit around all day when we get it full inside” [sic].
The Daily Dot was unable to independently verify the specific Walmart store location or the current workplace policies described in the video. The details reflect the account shared by @rackksinmyypurple on TikTok.
