A viral TikTok video from creator @jorlala has amassed more than 9 million views and nearly 9,300 comments after she detailed a frustrating interaction with customers who repeatedly requested menu items exclusive to Starbucks.
Café Owner Explains Menu Differences to Confused Customers
The creator, known as Jordan, said she frequently encounters patrons who assume her independent café operates with the same menu as the global coffee chain. In the video, she recounts a specific incident where a male customer ordered roasted red pepper egg bites — a signature Starbucks item not available at her establishment.
Jordan explained that her café offers frittatas instead of the two-piece egg bites. Despite this clarification, the man insisted his wife wanted the Starbucks-specific dish and declined the frittata options, which included an egg-white version that might not contain peppers.
Escalating Confusion Over Unavailable Items
After hearing the available options, Jordan said the man signaled for his wife to approach. The woman then asked for the roasted red pepper egg bites.
“Yeah, we don’t have red pepper roasted egg bites. That’s a Starbucks thing,” she told her, according to the video.
The woman continued to request the egg bites, Jordan said. She reiterated that the café did not serve the requested dish and offered a choice between an egg-white frittata and a bacon frittata. The woman did not immediately select either option.
At that point, Jordan said she was unsure why the customer persisted in asking for an item she had already confirmed was unavailable. The customer appeared dissatisfied and remained undecided, according to the creator.
Order Complications Continue With Drink Customizations
The man eventually decided they would order one of each frittata — one with egg whites and the other with bacon. The woman noted there was a Starbucks only a few minutes away if they wanted the specific item they had initially requested.
However, the confusion continued after the food order was placed. Jordan said the man ordered a small caramel macchiato with eight additional shots. To confirm the preparation, she asked:
“Oh, you want the eight shots, like, on the side, right?”
The customer replied:
“No. I want it separate!”
The exchange led to further clarification over how the espresso shots should be served.
Customers Dispute Correct Orders at Pickup
When it was time to collect their food, Jordan said the man approached the counter, looked at the plates, and claimed the order was incorrect. Even after she assured him the orders were accurate, he continued to insist they were wrong.
She suggested the customers may have expected the frittatas to resemble the egg bites served at Starbucks, noting that the ongoing confusion made the interaction increasingly difficult.
Viewer Comments Reflect Widespread Industry Frustration
Many commenters expressed sympathy for the creator and shared similar experiences with customers who refuse to accept that certain items are unavailable.
One commenter wrote:
“I HATE when people act like if they keep asking for something they’ll get it. Doesn’t matter if you say it 50 billion ways, the answer is still NO.”
Another added:
“As a Barista at Starbucks we have lots of people stare at our menu and still order Dutch Bro drinks or food that is not on our menu. I guess this issue is universal.”
The comments reflected a broader discussion about customers expecting independent cafés to carry menu items associated with major chains, with several users sharing comparable encounters.
The Daily Dot was unable to independently verify the interaction described in the video or obtain comment from the customers involved. The details of the encounter, including their orders and exchanges with the creator, come solely from the video posted by Jordan (@jorlala) on TikTok.
