The Jacksonville Jaguars and wide receiver Parker Washington appear unlikely to finalize a contract extension before the 2026 regular season begins, according to a source who spoke with NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe.
Extension Talks Stall Despite Wilson Comparable
The Jaguars explored a deal for Washington in the same range as the three-year, $75 million contract Michael Wilson recently signed with the Arizona Cardinals, the source told Wolfe. However, the two sides did not have an agreement in place as of Saturday night.
Washington Betting on Himself in Pivotal Season
Washington, 24, is entering the final year of his rookie contract after a breakout 2025 campaign. The 2023 sixth-round draft pick is betting on his performance this season to increase his long-term value.
Washington Focused on the Field
Speaking Wednesday, Washington emphasized his concentration on the upcoming season regardless of contract negotiations.
“To me, my job is to come out here and stay ready to go, just do my job, be the best receiver I can be and make plays for the team,” Washington said, according to Jaguars.com. “I’m just focused on me, being the best teammate I can be and having fun out here.”
“If we get it done, that’s cool. If not, I’m going to go out Sunday and leave my best out there.”
Career-High Production in 2025
Washington posted career highs across the board last season, recording 58 receptions for 847 yards and five touchdowns. He also contributed two punt-return touchdowns, showcasing his versatility as a playmaker.
