Former TCU safety Jacob Fields was arrested Sunday on a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, his agent told ESPN. Fields had been dismissed from the team Aug. 18 after an alleged locker room altercation in which he punched a teammate.
Fields turned himself in and is being held at the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth, Texas, agent Philip Miller told ESPN. He is expected to be released on bond Sunday.
Jacob Fields accused of punching TCU receiver
Fields, who transferred to TCU after two seasons at Louisiana Tech, is accused of punching Horned Frogs wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma in the locker room Aug. 13. TCU’s general manager reported the incident to police the following day.
In an Instagram video that was later removed, Ezukanma said Fields sucker punched
him and that he was knocked unconscious when his head hit the floor, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Ezukanma did not travel with TCU to Dublin, Ireland, where the Horned Frogs lost 15-10 to North Carolina in Saturday’s Aer Lingus College Football Classic.
TCU coach Sonny Dykes addressed the incident with reporters in Ireland on Thursday.
It was something that was certainly out of character for the team and the young man that was involved,
Dykes said. Look, you got 110 football players. I mean, things happen sometimes. You’ve got to find ways to move through them, and man, these young kids are resilient. It’s like anything else, when something bad happens, it becomes a teaching moment.
Fields was expected to start for TCU
Fields was the Conference USA Co-Defensive Player of the Year after leading Louisiana Tech with 92 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and three interceptions last season.
He had been the leading candidate to replace former TCU star safety Bud Clark, who was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the second round of the NFL draft.
