Hernán Da Campo scored the only goal of the match with a spectacular long-range strike that found the corner late in the first half. His effort gave Sport Boys a decisive 1-0 lead before the interval.
One of the match’s key moments came in the 41st minute, when Sporting Cristal midfielder Catriel Cabellos was sent off. He initially received a yellow card from referee Augusto Menéndez for stepping on Christian Cueva, but the decision was reviewed by the VAR and changed to a straight red.
With the win, Sport Boys climbed to 14 points in the Torneo Clausura standings and moved to within two points of Deportivo Garcilaso and Universitario de Deportes. The Callao club is now in third place and has gone six matches unbeaten, recording four wins and two draws during that run.
