Coby Mayo has established himself as a certified lefty-killer. He leads MLB in several key statistics against southpaws:

- 14 home runs, first in MLB
The adjustment period took some time, but Mayo’s breakout is legitimate. The 24-year-old has even held his own against right-handed pitching in the second half, posting a 73 wRC+ compared with a miserable 40 wRC+ in the first half.
Against lefties this season, Mayo is slashing an absurd .322/.380/.746.
Today, Mayo faces Jeffrey Springs, who enters with a 6.08 ERA and 6.14 FIP. Right-handed hitters have been crushing Springs, slugging .525 with 22 home runs against him.
Pitching in a minor-league park has not helped Springs, either. The 33-year-old owns a 6.71 ERA, .388 wOBA and 6.32 FIP at Sutter Health Park. He has allowed 30 total home runs this season, the second-most in MLB, including 18 at home.
Springs relies on three pitches against right-handed hitters, and Mayo has produced strong numbers against all three.
