Real Madrid have completed the signing of Sergio Martínez from Racing de Santander after paying the midfielder’s €3 million release clause.
The 19-year-old, who was born in Laredo, will join Real Madrid Castilla and could also train with the first team. Martínez has agreed a contract with the Madrid club until 2030.

The Cantabrian midfielder made his first-division debut this season, scoring after helping Racing secure promotion from the second tier. The transfer was finalized through payment of the clause, as confirmed by Racing in an official statement:
“Racing and Real Madrid have reached an agreement for the transfer of Sergio Martínez. The Madrid club undertakes to pay, in a single installment, the full amount set as the release clause in the contract linking Real Racing Club and the player. By virtue of this, the footballer from Laredo leaves the green-and-white club.”
Racing also issued an emotional farewell to Martínez, who came through the club’s academy and progressed to the first team.
“Sergio has belonged to Racing since the age of 10 and has climbed every step from Alevín B to the first team, with which he has played 15 matches”, the club recalled.
“We want to wish him all the success he deserves. We are very proud of your progress and of how you have defended the badge all these years. The Campos de Sport de El Sardinero will always be your home”.
