Sam Altman’s company Worldcoin has begun expanding its identity verification to FIFA and NFL games. This comes as part of a partnership with Mythical Games, which develops games with FIFA and NFL properties as well as Pudgy Penguins themes.
The plan aims to eliminate widespread bot interference that has distorted game outcomes, virtual item trading and competition in these titles. Mythical will connect its users to the World network and leverage World’s biometric verification for login sessions and new account sign-ups. The companies explained:
“By adopting World’s authentication technology, Mythical Games will take the reliability and transparency of the blockchain gaming ecosystem to the next level.”
The partnership aims to curb multi-account abuse, coin-farming groups and automated match-fixing that have been seen in FIFA games since the first online tournaments.
Account duplication has been an ongoing issue in FIFA digital tournaments, distorting welcome rewards and the transfer market through the use of bots.
NFL games have similar issues with NFTs and prediction contests. With verified identity checks tied to real people, tracking fairness in competitions that distribute rewards becomes easier.
World ID integration can enable one-account participation per person, more transparent ranking systems, and games without teams controlled by farming bots. This would support regulated prize competitions where rewards are guaranteed to reach real players. The same system could improve fantasy NFL rivalry modes, where rare digital items and prize pools are often targets of automated exploitation.
Native Web3 titles are also included in this rollout, with Pudgy Party using the same verification method. The companies made a joint statement:
“While bots have their place in the game, they can also be used to manipulate the in-game economy, gain an unfair advantage, and grab rewards that are normally due to human players.”
She quoted also a world study from April:
“Almost 75% of players say that these uninvited ‘players’ make the game less fun.”
World’s identification system works through personal biometric registration, which includes eye scans. People who verify will receive local tokens. According to the plan, the number of registered users worldwide has already exceeded 17 million. The company aims to reduce the distortions caused by duplicate accounts in the digital gaming world.
The companies further explained:
“Millions of players use Mythical’s titles not only because they are fun, but also because the Mythical platform allows them to truly own and trade their game assets. By integrating Proof of Human, Mythical ensures that these economies remain fair and transparent.”
This highlights the economic level behind many current online titles, where in-game items can have real resale value.
Industry reports show that gaming companies lose billions every year to bot networks and fake accounts. These groups intervene in the currency systems of games associated with franchises, fantasy tournaments and digital collectible promotions. Verifying players’ identities reduces the financial incentive for these groups and discourages them from creating unlimited duplicate accounts.
Mythical also announced that it will be launching its MYTHOS chain on the World Network. It will be the first Layer 3 blockchain to be built on the World Chain. This will link verification directly to transactions and ownership records in Mythical’s gaming system. The goal is to create stable gaming conditions in which players can compete without automated intervention.
