  • After weeks of silence, Shytoshi Kusama came back with the explanation that the Shiba-Inu development was on course again.
  • The combustion rate of Shib dropped 97%, while the new karma system is further tested and the developers are thinking about future system tools.

Shytoshi Kusama, the leading developer of the Shiba-Inu system, has again publicly commented after a long radio silence and resumed the discussion about the future orientation of the project. The pseudonymous figure, which had not been posted for almost three weeks, shared a short message about Telegram, which was aimed at the Shib development team and the community.

“We can start again next week …” wrote Kusama, making it clear that he will get back into development after a time of absence. The news indicates an internal reorganization and a advance to resume the activities.

Karma system remains in Puppynet’s beta phase

In addition to his Telegram post, Kusama has published a new podcast episode entitled “Shy Speaks Shib”, in which he explains the karma reputation system. The function was introduced as part of the ongoing expansion of the infrastructure at the beginning of the month on Puppynet, the Shibarium test network.

Karma is a reputation mechanism that measures the activity and participation of the users in the Shib network. Users earn points based on various actions, including the burning of Shib-token, the provision of liquidity and the acquisition of digital land in the SHIB meta psum.

Kaal Dhairya, one of the main developers of the Shiba-Inu network and, along with Kusama, one of the most important participants, described The functionality of Karma similar to the experience points systems in traditional video games.

According to Dhairya, the idea is to quantify the participation and commitment in a way that could ultimately result in premium payments. He pointed out that the karma mechanism is still in the beta phase in order to make possible changes before the Minne set was introduced. According to Dhairya, the scores and steps that are currently in beta status can still change because the system is still experimental.

Massive decline in the Shib-Burn rate

While the karma system continues its test phase, there is signs of slowing down in another aspect of the Shiba-Inu ecosystem. The Shib-Burn rate, a measure of the tokens that are permanently taken out of circulation, has dropped by over 97 % within a day. Only 1.7 million Shib tokens were burned, which is in a blatant contrast to the 60 million tokens that were burned in a single transfer at the beginning of the week.

The Shib community considers the combustion as an instrument to stabilize the quantity of the token while preserving the long-term token value. The development team did not give an official explanation for slowing down the combustion rate, but it can be assumed that it is related to the lower commitment of the users.

The volatility of the Burn metric shows the difficulties associated with the maintenance of a stable tokenomics in decentralized systems that depend on the community members for their operation.

After Kusama is active again, the team focuses on the implementation of initiatives that affect the karma system and the expansion of overall development.
