In a recently conducted interview with Turkish social media influencers, Changpeng Zhao explained in an adaptation of Srakastic humor that Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous inventor of Bitcoin, was probably an artificial intelligence from the future.
Despite the absurdity of this “solution” of the identity puzzle around the Bitcoin inventor, of course, Zhao’s statement has triggered new speculation about the central secret of the origin of the crypto industry.

Zhao speculated that the technology behind Bitcoin could have been created by software that is able to travel through time:
“It could be a software that travels through time … it is difficult to imagine, but it could be possible.”
In the interview, Zhao emphasized that he had never met Satoshi Nakamoto. He also noted that today’s digital society was impossible to remain incognito:
“If it had been a group … it would have been impossible to have remained unknown over the entire period.”
Zhao also said that Satoshi, if he were a person, would make sure that no traces are left, and in this case there is no such thing as an IP address.
These observations raised the question of whether Satoshi Nakamoto is a single person or a group that actually created the first decentralized digital currency and has remained anonymous.
Over the years, several people have been proposed as possible candidates for Satoshi Nakamoto. The frequently mentioned names include Cypherpunk Hal Finney, computer scientist Nick Szabo, the advocate of data protection Len Sassaman and the CEO of Blockstream Adam Back. However, none of the theories could be finally proven, and the true identity remains unknown.
On October 12, 2024, HBO broadcast a documentary about Money Electric that it had produced: Bitcoin Mystery. In it, the filmmakers identified the Canadian mathematician and developer Peter Todd as the author of Bitcoin. While Todd and others contest this, he still moved to an unknown place due to security problems. The conclusions of the documentary are said to have been particularly unpopular in the crypto community.
