- IOTA Foundation and MasterZ are hosting a European Web3 hackathon.

At the center of the Hackathons There is a comprehensive training program that will be carried out completely digitally from February to March 2026. Participants gain access to workshops and mentoring sessions led by experts from the IOTA Foundation and MasterZ.
Goals of the IOTA Hackathon
It’s about central Web3 topics, from smart contract development to RWA tokenization to digital identity and IoT integration. Particular attention is paid to the practical application of the new IOTA smart contract technology, which is increasingly coming into focus following the network’s recent technological relaunch.
The learning phase is followed by a build phase lasting several weeks in which the teams develop real Web3 projects. Applications for sustainability, supply chains, DeFi, gaming and digital identity are expected. The organizers emphasize that the hackathon is not only intended to impart theoretical knowledge, but also to produce concrete, usable applications.
The best teams will be invited to a grand finale in Berlin, where they will present their projects to a jury of IOTA and MasterZ representatives. Travel costs will be covered to enable the broadest possible European participation.
The finalists also receive financial support and access to investors and mentors. The 2026 Hackathon builds on previous successful initiatives such as the “IOTA Moveathon Europe”, but goes beyond this in scope and scope.
With the program, MasterZ and IOTA want to strengthen the European Web3 community and make it easier for young talent to get started in a technology system of the future.
