UN and ISO have introduced the first international standard for digital product passes (DPP). At the event, IOTA presented his distributed Ledger technology and showed how products can wear a fault-proof digital identity.
The framework aims to pursue the origin, production and environmental impacts across global supply chains. This laid the foundation for a universal system of product transparency, which is supported by international law.
United Nations framework is aimed at global trading transparency
The start took place under the direction of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Technical Committee 154 of ISO, which defines standards for electronic data exchange.
With the new DPP standard, a system is introduced with which every physical product, from batteries to clothing, can be followed with a clear digital profile. This profile shows how the product was manufactured, where it comes from and what ecological footprint it leaves it.
