This recognition focuses on the neutral open source framework from Twin, which is based on the distributed ledger from IOTA. This enables safe, compliant data exchange between public and private partners. This system has reduced the inefficiency caused by paper, especially in cross -border shops.
Based on the GBBC list, TWIN solves the long-existing bottlenecks in international trade and logistics. It combines logistics companies, border organizations and exporters in a single interoperability framework. Success is obvious: the processing times and the associated costs in the trading processes have decreased by 20 to 50 %.
In Kenya, local exporters use the WLIP initiative that authenticated the documents for trading in good time. In the United Kingdom, pilot projects use the blockchain as part of the Border 2025 Strategy to facilitate customs clearance of goods such as frozen food and coffee.
Such an ongoing initiative, the result program, monitors agricultural products from Kenya for the markets in the Netherlands and Great Britain. It offers continuous data traceability for vegetables and fruit, which is essential for quality control and compliance with regulations on the limits.
The infrastructure is not only intended for agricultural purposes. Mission, a similar initiative, offers port logistics in real time. Twin also offers digitized solutions for trade financing that simplify dealing with documents and increase the speed of the transaction.
Twin is supported by Tony Blair Institute, Trademark Africa and the World Economic Forum. Institutional support means a broad trust in the system. Together with the secretariat of the African continental free trade agreement, the system is currently being expanded to the entire continent.
Customs organizations and exporters will benefit from the simplified and inexpensive trade processes. The built -in scalability means that an expansion of the system would make it easier to reduce trade and more smooth transport by the African markets.
Twin meets the requirements of the provider of trade financing by ensuring the integrity and transparency of the data. Documents such as customs forms and original certificates can be digitized via the main book provided by IOTA, which leads to greater accuracy and less fraud.
A broader cooperation and integration with the systems of trade financing are part of the Twin timetable. Since the countries are testing new technologies for border control, Twin is a tested model for several regions.
IOTA and Twin are now introduced as useful solutions in today’s trading networks. The common framework shows how public-private partnerships can be used to improve everyday trade processes.
