The Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) from Chainlink is currently driving ASTR token from ASTAR Network as the first cross-chain token in Sioneum Mainnet. The one on June 12th announced Partnership with Optimism is the first Superchain-Erc20 compatible crisschain token introduction that uses the CCT standard.
Chainlink CCIP’s Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard is now compatible with @Optimism’s SuperchainERC20, with its first deployment on @soneium via @Astarnetwork‘s token, ASTR.

The upgrade of ASTR belongs to the Evolution phase 1.5 of ASTAR and transforms it into a CCT standard token. This creates interoperability of tokens within Superchain systems, including the op Minnes and other Layer 2S, as well as on other EVM and NOB-EVM chains such as Solana. This initiative shows a collaborative step to improve blockchain interoperability through standardized token formats. Zain Bacchus, Staff Product Manager at Op Labs, says ::
“The op stack was developed to support interoperability, and Superchainerc20 helps to achieve them. Astar ensures that the ASTR-TOKE can move over the Superchain through the interoperability of Superchain and Chainlinks Cross-Chain-token-Standard, while at the same time it is safely expanded via Chainlinks CCIP.”
Superchain-Erc20 implements the ERC7802 standard and supports the safe token transfer within the Superchain and on external networks. With CCIP integration, developers can offer native token transfers between the OP stack-based networks standardized. This agreement simplifies things for DAPP developers and creates space for an increased liquidity transfer between the chains. Zain Bacchus, Staff Product Manager at Op Labs:
“At AStar it is our mission to connect everyone to web3. By taking over the CCT standard and integration with Chainlink CCIP, we have taken a crucial step to make the ASTAR network an integral part of the Superchain and the wider multi-chain ecosystem.”
The technical basis for Superchainerc20 and the CCT standard supports developers in simplifying cross-chain design. It facilitates the native, direct token interoperability within networks that were created with the op stack, and the support of a seamless expansion to other blockchain systems.
The CCT standard is officially available in Sioneum and offers developers a functional basis for the integration of CCIP-capable cross-chain functions in their applications. This implementation not only makes token mobility easier, but also creates the prerequisites for higher liquidity and the interaction of assets between previously isolated networks. It opens the doors to a common system in which developers can work with both EVM and non-EVM chains. Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs, states:
“As the first token that takes over the CCT standard on Sioneum, ASTR creates the basis for the Superchainerc20 tokens from Optimism CCT compatible, and thus underlines how Chainlink CCIP enables safe, cross-chain interoperability across leading ecosystems.”
All of this has a major impact on the future multiChain growth by providing tools and standards that reduce the integration problem and enable a larger user range. It consolidates the role of CCIP and CCT when linking independent networks under a more uniform working model.
