  • Burger King UK explores the introduction of a “Burger Koin” and triggers mixed reactions.
  • The Hamburger chain already accepts Bitcoin via its app in some French branches, in Germany, the Netherlands and Venezuela.

Burger King UK has carried out a social media survey that consisted of a single question:

“Should we introduce a crypto burger coin called Burger Koin?

– Burger King (@BurgerKingUK) March 29, 2025

The fast food group turned to its followers X, to learn about the opinion of his customers about the potential project.
Some of them welcomed the idea, other concerns about fraud in the crypto industry. A respondent warned of the project and explained that the crypto market was already suffering from an excess of Memecoin fraudsters. Another suggested that the company should deal with its range of goods instead of launching a digital coin.

The international burger griller already accepts Bitcoin in accordance with his app in some French branches, in Germany, the Netherlands and Venezuela.

Burger Kings crypto ambitions

As CNF reported, Burger King has previously shown interest in digital currencies. In 2023, his Paris branch began to accept Bitcoin for payments, which marked the company’s first steps towards cryptocurrency.

Since then, locations in the Netherlands, Germany and Venezuela have also integrated Bitcoin payments in February 2025. This shows a growing commitment to cryptocurrencies, but there has been no talk of its own cryptocurrency.

Previous engagement in crypto communities

In 2023, Burger King UK’s X-account attracted the DOGECOIN community’s attention after answering a tweet of a prominent crypto dealer.

The dealer had emphasized that Burger King accepted Bitcoin in the Paris branch, whereupon the company replied with “We Need Doge”, which was well received by Dogecoin supporters. While Burger King Brazil has been accepting Dogecoin since 2021, this payment option has not yet been introduced in Great Britain.

By asking Burger King about the introduction of Burger-Koin, the company seems to explore new ways to combine fast food with digital finances. With his survey, Burger King seems to check whether his customer base would support his own cryptocurrency. The company has not confirmed any official plans regarding Burger-Koin, but its persistent interest in digital assets that the developing crypto scene is closely observed.

Regardless of whether Burger-Koin becomes a reality or an online discussion remains, Burger King’s commitment in this area underlines the increasing overlap between mainstream brands and blockchain technology.
