  • VECHAIN combines token payments with AI, IoT and data tools to support intelligent supply chains.
  • Vechain’s blockchain controls the tracking of goods in world trade and rewards its customers through VET-TOKEN incentives.

Vechain has developed into a prime example of how blockchain-based payment tokens can take on more common technological functions than traditional assets. A academic paper recently presented at the CPITS 2025 workshop in Kiev describes how the project fits into a growing class of systems that combine artificial intelligence, data processing and intelligent ecosystems.

The study carried out by researchers from Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University examined the potential of decentralized payment tools in conjunction with digital identity logs, big data services and IoT. The functionality of Vechain in the tracking of supply chains, which is supported by its native VET token, was emphasized as an example of such a merger.

According to the paper Vechain uses his blockchain structure to record the movement and authenticity of goods and rewards the participants of the process with token-based incentives. This structure contributes to improving traceability and accountability in complex delivery networks.

In contrast to systems that build on central databases, VECHAIN offers a method in which the data between all parties that interact with the same recording chain remain consistent.

Study combines Vechain with cross-functional token uses

The authors arrange Vechain in a wider class of token-based models. Such models enable programmable functions – such as the granting of permits, maintaining ownership to an object or the enforcement of contractual conditions – in digital environments based on AI, IoT and the processing of large amounts of data.

“Token created by decentralized protocols and intelligent contracts can be used in many contexts,” said the authors.

They gave examples from the public and business sector, where the use of tokens contributes to clear tracking and more smooth operation.

The study also placed Vechain in a number of blockchain projects that play different roles in newly created data-controlled services. In particular, VECHAIN together with Origintrail (TRAC) was grouped under the applications for the supply chain, which further underlines its unique positioning under the decentralized payment tools.

Despite the positive assessment of the role of Vechain in technological convergence, security concerns were not disregarded in the paper. A main focus of the analysis was due to risks related to smart contracts that drive Vechain’s operating logic. It was explained how even small weaknesses can lead to far -reaching damage, including user losses and data leaks.

Tools such as OpenSpelin Defender and Certik were mentioned as necessary for the examination of smart contracts, many token operations control. This Tools recognize problems such as bugs, incorrect configurations and future back doors before tokens like VET go into operation in production environments.

The paper also explains how artificial intelligence is paired with the contract test in order to predict abnormalities and system failures. In future implementations, platforms such as Vechain could increasingly rely on AI to prevent fraud and unintentional activities within their networks.
