Steve Irwin’s cameraman caught his heartbreaking final phrases on digicam

Steve Irwin’s tragic last phrases had been caught on movie as he was fatally attacked by a stingray.

The digicam crews who had been accompanying the legendary zookeeper and conservationist on that fateful day in 2006 have instructed how they watched on in horror as he was stung.

Eyewitnesses described how the croc-loving TV star was left in a ‘large pool of blood’ after being struck by the deadly animal.

Irwin had been capturing the character documentary Ocean’s Deadliest, swimming in chest-deep water within the Nice Barrier Reef.

The late 44-year-old was filming off the coast of Port Douglas, Australia, when a stingray all of a sudden ‘began stabbing wildly with its tail’, in keeping with cameraman Justin Lyons.

In 2014, Lyons instructed Studio 10 how the often calm creature made ‘a whole lot of strikes in just a few seconds’, explaining he assumes it mistook Irwin’s shadow for ‘a tiger shark’.

“I panned with the digicam because the stingray swam away, I didn’t even realize it had triggered any injury,” he stated, as per PEOPLE.

“It wasn’t till I panned the digicam again, that Steve was standing in an enormous pool of blood, that I realised one thing had gone fallacious.”

In keeping with Lyons, the stingray left a two-inch-wide gash in Irwin’s chest, puncturing his coronary heart and lungs.
