Pawn Stars’ Rick Harrison Undergoes Emergency Bypass Surgery After Routine Procedure

Rick Harrison, the well-known face of History Channel’s Pawn Stars, is recovering after an unexpected medical emergency. According to a family spokesperson speaking to LADbible, the 61-year-old Las Vegas pawn shop owner went in for a routine stent procedure but ended up requiring major bypass surgery.

Doctors discovered a serious cardiac issue during the initial procedure, prompting the more extensive operation. The surgery was successful, and Harrison is now said to be optimistic about his health outlook.

“He is resting comfortably and looking forward to a full recovery.”

The spokesperson added that Harrison has expressed gratitude to the medical team and is surrounded by family during his recuperation.

“He is grateful for the doctors and staff at the hospital and that his wife and family can be with him during this time,”

the representative said.

Family Health Challenges Continue in 2026

This health scare comes months after another significant incident involving the Harrison family. In January, Rick’s son Corey Harrison, 43, suffered a severe motorbike accident in Tulum, Mexico, just days before his father’s wedding.

The crash left Corey with extensive injuries, including 11 fractured ribs, a punctured lung, a concussion, and internal bleeding. Despite the severity, he has since made a full recovery, with updates provided in March by his friend Aaron Chambers, who organized a GoFundMe campaign to assist with medical expenses.

“Thank you so much to the people who have donated!”

Corey said at the time.

“I don’t know if anyone out there has broken ribs but this is awful!! I will keep everyone updated on my condition.”

Dispute Over Medical Fundraising

The GoFundMe campaign, which initially sought $100,000 before lowering its target to $18,000, became a point of contention between father and son. Rick Harrison questioned the need for the fundraiser, stating he had already covered his son’s medical bills.

“As far as I know, I paid all of Corey’s medical bills long before he put the GoFundMe out.”

Rick told TMZ.

Rick emphasized that any disagreement would be resolved privately.

“Corey and I will work this out by talking to each other and not the media.”

“We appreciate everyone’s support and concern but feel it is in the best interest of all to concentrate on Corey’s recovery at this time.”

Rick also clarified there was no formal repayment arrangement for the funds he provided, which reportedly came as a surprise to Corey given their personal and business relationship.

Corey Harrison Addresses Donors Directly

On March 6, Corey posted a message thanking donors and addressing what he described as misinformation regarding his financial situation and bill payments.

“There has been a lot of misinformation out there about my net worth and about who has been paying my bills,”

the message read.

“I want to make it clear that every penny you have given is going toward my recovery. I am deeply indebted to all of my fans for your support, kindness, and generosity during this difficult time.”

Pawn Stars Legacy in Las Vegas

Rick Harrison co-founded the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas with his father in 1989. The shop became the setting for Pawn Stars, which premiered in 2009 and grew into one of cable television’s most enduring reality series. Both Rick and Corey have been central figures on the show, which documents the daily operations and unique items brought into the family business.
