Miley Cyrus appears to have officially entered a new musical era after dropping her surname online and announcing her tenth studio album, BASS PERSUADES.
Fans began “freaking out” on Sunday (30 August) when Cyrus changed her website from mileycyrus.com to mileyofficial.com. The rebrand soon extended to social media, with her Instagram handle reportedly changed to simply “miley”.
Referencing her 2007 debut single ‘See You Again’, the transformation appeared to confirm that, after all these years: “Oh, she’s just being Miley.”

Cyrus will release BASS PERSUADES on 18 September. She shared an iconic video of herself playing guitar to announce performances at the Hollywood Bowl, one of her favourite places to experience live music.
“Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong,” she wrote while announcing the new era.
“Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That’s what the title means to me.
“Thank you for being a part of making my wildest dreams come true. I sincerely hope you love this album. Miley.”
Although some fans had expected the record to be self-titled, the album marks an exciting new chapter for the Disney Legend nearly 20 years after her first single as a recording artist.
One fan summed up the reaction by writing: “I thought it was going to be called miley but that’s ok girl,”
Miley Cyrus to perform at the Hollywood Bowl
Cyrus will launch the live era with performances of BASS PERSUADES at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on 16 and 18 October.
“It’s been a while,” the 33-year-old said.
“The Hollywood Bowl is my favourite place to experience music and see my favourite artists. I’ve sat in those seats many times, but I’ve never taken the stage.
“LA is my heart and I’m bringing it home. See you there. [love-heart emoji] Miley.”
Hannah Montana fans were quick to reference the series’ music, writing: “She’s Always find your way back home!!!”
Fans are already calling for a world tour, with some telling Cyrus that “Europe is your home too” as they hope the new “miley” era will lead to major international performances.
Cyrus has not confirmed whether she will release a new single before the album arrives. However, the rebrand and upcoming Hollywood Bowl shows signal an important new phase for the singer, who has now spent more than two decades in the music industry.
