Jimmy Kimmel Targets Jake Paul Over Donald Trump Rally Appearance
While Donald Trump’s ongoing rally tour has drawn scrutiny over visible patches of empty seats, the former president introduced an unconventional ally during a recent campaign stop in Ohio: social media influencer and professional boxer Jake Paul. Taking the stage in front of the crowd, Paul delivered remarks targeting political opponents, asserting that he does not understand the left because they “just carry [protest] signs around while we’re doing the work.”
The crossover between internet celebrity culture and conservative campaign politics quickly caught the attention of late-night television. Comedian and host Jimmy Kimmel seized on the moment during his monologue, expressing sheer disbelief at Paul’s claim of representing the hard-working segment of the American population.
Kimmel Challenges Jake Paul’s Definition of ‘Work’
Unsurprisingly, Jimmy Kimmel wasn’t impressed by the Ohio rally performance. Breaking down the boxer’s rhetoric, Kimmel directly challenged what the social media personality considers a standard day of labor compared to everyday citizens.
“I have a quick question for Jake: Are you under the impression that what you do is work?”
the host asked. “Last I checked you were promoting gambling apps and selling crypto tokens. What is your job? Being Logan Paul’s brother? You’re selling body spray to people. These guys have done such a good job of deluding themselves into thinking they’re hard-working, average Americans.”
Why This Matters
The appearance of Jake Paul alongside Donald Trump highlights an escalating push by political campaigns to enlist high-profile digital influencers, athletes, and online personalities to connect with younger, internet-native demographics. However, as demonstrated by Jimmy Kimmel’s biting critique, bringing social media stars into political discourse opens up new vulnerabilities, drawing immediate public backlash over the stark contrast between digital wealth, influencer sponsorships, and the realities facing ordinary working-class voters.
