Disney Channel star Carla Jeffery has died aged 33, her talent agency has confirmed.
Jeffery was best known for playing cheerleader Bree in Disney’s Zombies franchise. She also appeared in iCarly, Good Luck Charlie and Shake It Up.
Her death was announced by Alexanders Talent in a statement shared on Instagram.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Carla Jeffery, who passed away on 1 September, 2006, at just 33 years old.
“Carla joined Alexanders Talent Management family at the age of 12.
“For more than 20 years we had the privilege of watching her grow into a beautiful, vibrant and incredibly talented woman whose radiant smile could light up any room.
“We will remember her infectious smile, her laughter, her talent, and the beautiful light she carried everywhere she went.”
The agency said Jeffery had become more than a client and was “like family” over the years. It also sent its love and condolences to her family, who requested privacy while grieving.
“Our hearts are with Carla’s family and loved ones during this devastating time. We respectfully ask that their privacy be honoured as they grieve this unimaginable loss.
“Rest beautifully, Carla. Your light will never be forgotten.”
No cause of death has been publicly disclosed.
Carla Jeffery’s career
Jeffery rose to prominence as Bree in the original 2018 musical film Zombies. She reprised the role in two sequels, released in 2020 and 2023, and voiced the character in several animated spin-offs.
Beyond her Disney Channel work, Jeffery appeared in Curb Your Enthusiasm, Southland, American Vandal, Lie to Me and Suburgatory.
She began acting at the age of 12, appearing in Phat Girlz alongside Mo-Nique. Born in Houston, Jeffery was the twin sister of fellow actor Carlon Jeffery, who also appeared on the Disney Channel in A.N.T. Farm.
Tributes to Carla Jeffery
Jeffery’s sudden death prompted tributes from fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry.
Her Zombies co-star Milo Manheim wrote:
“Carla. The sweetest person I have ever met. I love you.”
He later shared another tribute on Instagram Stories:
“Love you Carlaboo. The sweetest, kindest, most loving person”
Manheim also posted a clip of Jeffery dancing in a scene from iCarly.
Fellow Zombies star Chandler Kinney wrote:
“The brightest shining light in any room she walked into. The kindest person you’d ever meet.The most beautiful soul. This doesn’t feel real.”
Trevor Tordjman, who also appeared in the franchise, commented:
“At a loss for words right now.. I’ll never forget your energy and spirit Carla.”
A representative for Jeffery wrote on her official Instagram page:
“May be gone from this world but not from our hearts. Rest in Peace Carla J. Jeffery”.
