Sean Ono Lennon and his girlfriend, Charlotte Kemp Muhl, have announced the birth of their baby boy, Aurelius.

The couple shared the news on social media Tuesday evening. In an Instagram post featuring a photo with their son, Sean wrote that they had “created a Human Bean! His name is Aurelius! Thank you!” Aurelius is the first grandchild of Yoko Ono and John Lennon.

Sean later posted additional photos of himself and Kemp Muhl holding their son. One caption read: “Baby Momma!”

Sean Ono Lennon on protecting his family legacy

Although Sean has largely kept his private life out of the spotlight, the musician has spoken about being the “caretaker” of his father’s Beatles legacy and his mother’s work. In December 2025, he told CBS Sunday Morning that he had “technically” taken over as custodian of his father’s legacy, a role Yoko Ono has protected and shaped over the decades.

“But obviously the world is also the custodian of his legacy, I would say,” said Sean. “I’m just doing my best to help make sure that the younger generation doesn’t forget about The Beatles and John and Yoko. That’s how I look at it.”

John Lennon launched his solo career in 1970 after marrying Ono the previous year. The couple released the acclaimed album Double Fantasy in 1980, the final album before Lennon was murdered.

The record includes “Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy),” a song John wrote for Sean when he was a child. The gentle track reflects on parenthood and imagines watching his son grow up.

“My parents gave me so much that I think it’s the least I can do to try and support their legacy in my lifetime,” Sean told CBS. “I feel like I just owe it to them. It’s a personal thing.”
