The New York Giants released eight players ahead of Sunday’s 53-man roster deadline, following the team’s 23-6 preseason victory over the New York Jets.

NFL teams must reduce their rosters to an initial 53 players by 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, cutting down from the current limit of 90 players.
The waiver-claiming period for players released during the roster reduction ends at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31. The Giants hold the fifth position in the claiming order.
After the deadline, teams can form a 17-player practice squad, provided at least one player qualifies as and is designated an international player.
The Giants will open the regular season at home on Sept. 13 with a Sunday night matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
