Hulu has renewed “Furious” for Season 2 after the thriller series emerged as a breakout hit for the streaming platform.
Starring Emmy Rossum, the series has recorded week-over-week viewership growth since its July 27 premiere. The eight-episode first-season finale airs Monday, Aug. 31.
What “Furious” is about
Created by Elizabeth Meriwether, the writer and producer behind “New Girl,” “The Dropout” and “Dying for Sex,” “Furious” follows FBI agent Alice Black, played by Rossum, as she pursues a mysterious and calculating female serial killer portrayed by Lola Petticrew.
According to the series logline, “Both walk their own paths toward justice, and as their lives start to intertwine, the line between right and wrong begins to blur.”
“Furious” is loosely inspired by Bob Rafelson’s 1987 psychological thriller film “Black Widow.” Hulu first announced the series order in March 2025.

Rossum and Petticrew star alongside Quincy Tyler Bernstine and Scoot McNairy. Guest stars include Jake Lacy, Rob Delaney, Hope Davis, Rob Yang and Steve Way.
Variety chief TV critic Alison Herman gave the first season a positive review, praising the “stellar cast” and writing that the show “delivers a compelling study of female victimhood and what happens when women break our culture’s limited scripts for it.”
Meriwether created, wrote and executive produced “Furious.” Rossum executive produced for Composition 8 alongside Ronald Bass, Matt Olmstead and Sam Hoffman. Brian Kirk executive produced the series and directed its first two episodes.
“Furious” is produced by 20th Television and Searchlight Television.
