Former Royal Protection Officer Alleges Security Breaches for Prince Andrew at Buckingham Palace
A former royal protection officer has claimed that Prince Andrew, the former Duke of York, was allowed to bring multiple women into Buckingham Palace without standard security checks during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Paul Page, who served at the royal residence for six years, alleges that security protocols were relaxed between 1997 and 2004, enabling visitors to bypass the official log books.
FBI Dossier Details Alleged Procedure Violations
According to The Times, Page contacted U.S. authorities after stating he received no response from Thames Valley Police regarding their investigation. In a dossier obtained by the publication, Page told the FBI that he “observed circumstances concerning female visitors to Prince Andrew and the way protection personnel were required to deal with those visitors.”
He further alleged: “I have publicly described circumstances in which I believed ordinary Palace visitor-security procedures were not applied in the same way to certain visitors associated with Prince Andrew.”
Ghislaine Maxwell Named Among Visitors
The former officer specifically identified Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite convicted of child sex trafficking in 2021, as one of the alleged visitors. Page stated that Maxwell’s “presence and access were sufficiently unusual to become a matter of interest to protection personnel.”
Speaking to The Telegraph, Page said he documented “first-hand information” in his statement to the FBI and considered he had “fulfilled my responsibility as a potential witness.”
Ongoing Police Investigations and Arrest
The allegations emerge amid renewed legal scrutiny for the former royal. Andrew was arrested at Wood Farm Cottage in February, on his 66th birthday, on suspicion of misconduct in public office related to his tenure as the United Kingdom’s special trade envoy. He was held in custody for 11 hours.
In May, Sky News reported that Thames Valley Police are investigating the former Duke of York over potential sex crimes. Detectives reportedly hope to speak with a woman who claims she was taken to Andrew’s Windsor home “for sexual purposes.”
Fallout from Epstein Connections
Andrew has faced intensified public scrutiny over his association with convicted financier Jeffrey Epstein. The former Duke of York was stripped of his military titles and royal patronages, and subsequently evicted from Royal Lodge. Since February, he has been residing on the Sandringham Estate.
