Everton are closing in on a deal for AS Monaco forward Folarin Balogun after submitting a £35 million offer ($47.5m), sources have told ESPN.
The Premier League club identified the United States men’s national team striker as a leading target after Guinea-Bissau international Beto completed a £15 million move to Serie A side Fiorentina.
Talks over Balogun’s transfer have accelerated, with Everton manager David Moyes seeking to strengthen his squad before Tuesday’s 23:00 BST (18:00 ET) transfer deadline. The 25-year-old is viewed as an essential addition following Beto’s departure.
A move for Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison has stalled amid Turkish interest in the former frontman. However, Iliman Ndiaye’s prospective transfer to Spurs is still expected to go through.
Everton are also attempting to secure a deal for Jack Grealish after the Manchester City winger spent last season on loan at the club. Interest remains in Sunderland defender Trai Hume.
With Moyes prioritising attacking reinforcements, Balogun is currently the most likely signing for Everton.
