All eyes are on Coco Gauff as the tennis star begins her bid to reclaim the US Open women’s title.

The longtime New Balance athlete took to Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York on Tuesday night wearing a custom look inspired by the city’s Garment District for her first-round match against Turkish player Zeynep Sönmez.

Despite the rain under the stadium lights, Gauff also debuted a special US Open colorway of her signature Coco CG2 tennis shoe. The design features a palette of Dawn Glow, Enoki and NB Navy and is available now at Newbalance.com.

The eye-catching sneakers coordinate with the colors of Gauff’s two custom dresses for the Grand Slam tournament. Her first-round dress came in NB Navy, while her second look, which has not yet been revealed, includes both solid and patterned versions in Dawn Glow and Enoki.

Gauff’s US Open kit combines performance-focused details with fashion-forward design. She also wore a reimagined bomber walk-on jacket with gathered cuffs and a two-way front zip, completing the outfit with a bright purple racquet bag and matching duffle.

“New York is really special to me — this is where I won my first Grand Slam, and coming back here for the US Open is always incredible,” said Gauff in a statement. “This kit captures the energy of the tournament. The silhouette makes me feel confident, and I love how it celebrates the city’s fashion legacy.”

Gauff on tennis fashion and personal style

Gauff embraces the opportunity to experiment with both her on-court outfits and off-duty fashion. “On court, I’ve done a lot of things with New Balance that haven’t been done before. Off court, it’s all me trying to figure out how to express myself on a particular day,” she told FN last year after winning the Style Influencer of the Year Award at the FN Achievement Awards.

Gauff also admires Naomi Osaka’s bold on-court style. Osaka made a statement of her own when she played at the US Open on Monday evening, wearing a custom Who Decides War outfit styled by Law Roach as a tribute to NBA legend Allen Iverson.

“She does a great job of being creative and doing things that haven’t been done,” Gauff told FN last year.
