Former Nebraska state Sen. Brett Lindstrom will appear on the November 2026 general election ballot as the America First Party’s candidate for governor.
Lindstrom filed with the Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office on Tuesday to place his name on the ballot.
The Nebraska Supreme Court cleared the way last week for the Nebraska Working People Party and America First Party to become official political parties in the state.
“I am excited for the opportunity to join the America First Party and grateful to accept the party’s nomination for Governor,” Lindstrom said. “Nebraskans deserve another choice in this election. They should not be forced to choose between reelecting a governor who, in just three and a half years, has pushed the state to the brink of a fiscal crisis and a political party that has increasingly moved away from our state’s common-sense values.”
Lindstrom initially entered the governor’s race as a nonpartisan candidate but failed to meet the signature threshold required to appear on the ballot. According to the Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office, more than 2,000 of his submitted signatures were found to be invalid.
The Lindstrom campaign submitted 5,765 signatures, of which 3,358 were validated.
The Nebraska general election is scheduled for Nov. 3.
