Las Vegas Aces starting forward NaLyssa Smith will miss the rest of the WNBA season after suffering a left leg injury during Sunday’s 88-78 win over the Toronto team.
NaLyssa Smith injury ends 2026 WNBA season
Smith sustained the non-contact injury while driving to the basket with 3:15 remaining in the third quarter. The Aces did not provide further details about the injury.
The 26-year-old Smith started 38 games for Las Vegas this season, averaging 11.7 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting 63.8% from the field.
Indiana selected Smith with the No. 2 pick in the 2022 WNBA draft after her career at Baylor. She spent three seasons with the Fever before being traded to Dallas ahead of the 2025 season. The Aces acquired Smith on June 30, 2025.
Smith helped Las Vegas win the WNBA championship last year, starting all 12 of the team’s playoff games.
The Aces are third in the WNBA standings at 26-13. They will host Toronto on Friday in their final game before the FIBA World Cup break.
Three of Las Vegas’ top players—A’ja Wilson, Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray—are members of the United States World Cup team. When WNBA play resumes on Sept. 17, the Aces will have four games remaining in the regular season.
