‘Silo’ Season 3 Premiere Reveals Daniel’s Ruthless Transformation Into Troy
The upcoming third season of Apple TV+’s dystopian thriller Silo opens with a jarring shift in identity and morality. Inside Silo 1, the character previously known as Daniel awakens from cryo-sleep under a new name: Troy. Though physically identical, the man who emerges is fundamentally altered, a change the premiere makes immediately and brutally clear.
A Ruthless Command Decision
As Troy settles into his new shift, he is confronted with a crisis in Silo 17—the same silo Juliette Nichols ventured to during Season 2. Faced with an outbreak of residents who have left the silo, Troy issues a chilling order without hesitation: execute every single person—man, woman, and child—who exited. The directive underscores a paramount objective of Silo 1’s hierarchy: preventing any silo population from discovering the existence of others.
To enforce the decree, Troy unleashes drone warfare. The decision draws immediate disapproval from the drone pilot, Susan, who is revealed to be Daniel’s sister, Charlotte, played by Jessica Brown Findlay. In a cruel twist, neither sibling recognizes the other, their pasts erased by the cryo-sleep process and the silo’s manipulative systems.
Yost Describes Troy as ‘Completely Bloodless’
Discussing the character’s disturbing new demeanor, showrunner Graham Yost offered a stark assessment of Troy’s mindset.
“He’s completely bloodless about it. Totally unemotional. It’s just his job,”
says Yost.
Yost further hinted that Charlotte’s visceral negative reaction to Troy’s cold-blooded efficiency is a critical narrative thread, though he declined to elaborate on the specific reasons behind its significance.
