Former President Donald Trump has signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario to “Lake America,” unveiling the change in a social media video that shows him altering a map with a black marker. The move drew immediate ridicule from Late Night host Seth Meyers, who dissected the moment during his monologue.

Meyers Targets the Sharpie Spectacle

Meyers zeroed in on the theatrical map editing, highlighting a specific detail that struck him as absurd.

“My least favorite thing about the name change of Lake Ontario? Can I tell you my least favorite thing? Is when he took out the map to change it in sharpie and he crossed out the “Lake” to write “Lake” above it,”

Meyers said in the Late Night clip. He questioned the logic of rewriting a word that remained unchanged.

“Like why not just cross out Ontario and write America? But he crossed out both. Like the lake’s there. The lake didn’t change.”

‘Real Dork Sh*t’: Meyers’ Verdict

The host concluded that the stunt underscored a broader inability to deliver substantive results.

“This is some real dork sh*t,” he says. “They’re just such dorks. And you know what again, it’s a real reminder that they can’t actually accomplish anything.”

The executive order and the accompanying video have sparked widespread commentary online, with critics echoing Meyers’ assessment that the gesture prioritizes branding over governance.
