Sporting CP and Stuttgart each recorded 3-1 wins, while Manchester City kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 success. Aston Villa, Real Betis and Borussia Dortmund all posted 3-2 victories. Liverpool and Real Madrid earned identical 2-1 wins, and Arsenal alongside AEK Athens completed the winning dozen with 1-0 margins. All twelve teams have three points from one match played.

Fenerbahçe, PSV Eindhoven, Roma and Shakhtar Donetsk each picked up a point after drawing their opening fixtures. Each club sits on one point with a record of 0-1-0.
