Pakistan debutant Razaullah Khan announced his arrival in Test cricket with a dream opening over, trapping England captain Joe Root leg before wicket for eight runs as the hosts slipped to 39 for three in their first innings of the third and final Test at Edgbaston.

Dream start for Pakistan’s new bowler

Making his Test debut, Razaullah Khan produced a perfect first over in the longest format, delivering the breakthrough Pakistan needed by removing England’s most experienced batter. The dismissal of Root for just eight runs left England reeling early on day one of the decisive third Test at Birmingham’s Edgbaston stadium.

England struggle in must-win match

With the series on the line, England’s top order failed to build momentum, losing three wickets for only 39 runs. The early collapse puts immediate pressure on the middle order to rebuild the innings and set a competitive total in what is effectively a series decider.
