A viral TikTok video from creator @jorlala has amassed 5.5 million views and over 7,300 comments, capturing a tense encounter between café staff and a customer who arrived after closing time. The footage shows the barista, identified as Jordan, hiding in a darkened café while a customer pounds aggressively on the locked entrance door.

Incident Details: Customer Arrives After 7 p.m. Closing

According to Jordan, the incident occurred around 7 p.m. when the café closed for the day. She explained that a customer had called earlier to place an order and was explicitly told the order would be ready for pickup before the 7 p.m. closing time. Jordan waited by the door until closing, but the customer did not appear.

After locking up and moving to the back of the café, Jordan heard loud banging on the front door. She said she instructed other staff members to leave the main floor, retreat to the back, turn off the lights, and pretend the café was empty. Despite these precautions, the customer persisted.

Aggressive Confrontation Lasts 10 Minutes

Jordan reported that while banging on the door, the customer simultaneously called the café phone line repeatedly. Staff members stated the banging grew louder and more aggressive over approximately 10 minutes before the customer eventually left. Audio of the banging is audible in Jordan’s recorded video.

this video always gets people mad! context: i took the first video to send to my manager chat (one of the other SL’s was outside) and the second part is the explanation. we are not supposed to unlock the doors for ANYONE after we are closed for safety reasons! #baristalife #baristatok #worklife #customerstories #customersbelike

Commenters Support Staff Safety Protocols

The video sparked widespread discussion in the comments, with many viewers applauding Jordan’s quick thinking and adherence to safety protocols. Commenters emphasized that the customer’s late arrival was not the business’s responsibility.

One commenter framed the after-hours entry attempt as a safety and legal issue, writing:

“Acting like that is inexcusable. People saying ‘just give her the bag’ no after hours it’s no longer safe. After hours it’s trespassing. See how she’s acting banging on the door? Who’s to say what she’d do inside the store.”

Another placed the responsibility squarely on the customer:

“She was told what time she needed to be there and showed up late. That’s on the customer, not the business. There is no logical reason to be banging on locked doors over an order she failed to pick up on time.”
