Roma sporting director Tony D’Amico has rejected reports linking Manu Kone with a transfer to Chelsea, insisting the France international was never close to leaving the club.

Kone had recently been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge after Chelsea sold Enzo Fernández to Manchester City for €145 million. However, D’Amico said Chelsea never made an official offer for the midfielder.
