Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of NBA fans. Throughout the year, we ask the most engaged Milwaukee Bucks fans and supporters across the country for their views on the team.
More than three months ago, as part of our build-up to the 2026 NBA Draft, I examined the history of the 10th overall pick. The selection has produced generational players, busts and nearly everything in between, making it one of the NBA Draft’s most volatile slots—unless your name is “Paul,” in which case big things appear to be destined to follow. Just look at Paul Pierce, Paul George, Paul Westphal and Paul Silas.*
The central argument was that the Bucks were at a crossroads and that this pick could either make or break the franchise’s future.
*Paul Silas is listed as the 10th overall pick on the NBA’s official website but 12th in other locations because of the league’s territorial pick rule at the time, which allowed teams to select local college players in a bid to increase fan support.
As you know, Milwaukee ultimately selected Brayden Burries with the 10th overall pick. It was, at the very least, a surprising choice. Burries was widely expected to be off the board by that point in the draft. NBADraft.net projected him to go ninth to the Dallas Mavericks, as did The Ringer, CBS and No Ceilings. We had him landing there, too.
The Bucks also appeared to have a strong and relatively young backcourt already in place. Tyler Herro, Ryan Rollins and Kasparas Jakučionis all looked capable of fitting into Milwaukee’s long-term plans. Kevin Porter Jr. was also in the mix after picking up his player option just days after the draft.
And yet, the Bucks still managed to land Burries.

Burries has looked so good in a Bucks uniform that it is surprising Jon Horst has not been arrested for grand larceny. His Summer League performance—23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game, along with First Team honours—was almost undersold by his nonchalant approach. He played as if he had already been there before.
It took time for the significance of his performance to sink in. In retrospect, we may not have talked about Burries nearly enough.
That brings us to this week’s poll. Could Burries’ composure, combined with our apparent indifference to just how well he played, point to something bigger? Is it all foreshadowing? Could we somehow be witnessing the early stages of the next great Buck—one so good that his Summer League performance will barely register as a footnote in the story of his career?
Destiny, fate and all that.
So, Brew Hoopers, we are putting the question to you so we can preserve our prediction in ink—or at least darker pixels on lighter pixels—as proof of our prescience: just how good will Brayden Burries become?
