Jasmine Paolini advanced to the second round of the US Open after defeating Veronika Erjavec in three sets in her opening match at the New York tournament.
Returning to competition after Wimbledon, the Italian 19th seed overcame the Slovenian 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
Paolini will face the winner of the match between Lucrezia Stefanini and Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska in the next round.
