MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police will investigate if there are other police officers involved in the illegal drug trade after an intelligence officer was arrested in a planned buy-bust operation in Manila.
“One we expect from you [Police Master] Sergeant [Rodolfo] May he reveal or help us identify his other colleagues if there are any,” said PNP chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. in a news conference this Monday, October 10.
“We don’t care how long this investigation will take,” he added.
Yesterday, October 9, Police Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo was indeed arrested in Quiapo, Manila after he was shot by another drug suspect.
Mayo is an intelligence officer of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group based on police records.
This weekend alone, the police confiscated 990 kilos of suspected shabu worth more than P6.7 billion in a series of operations in the said city.
PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) Director Police Brigadier General Narcisco Domingo said Mayo has agreed to provide other information to the police.
“So far, as of this moment, we have allowed him to reveal. We are happy to report to our Chief PNP that within today we will start the interview with that suspect,” said Domingo. RNT/JGC
