MANILA, Philippines – A 55-year-old businessman was declared dead after being shot by an unidentified riding-in-tandem in the town of Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija this Saturday, October 8.
In the police report, P/Major Ronnie G. Caagbay, chief of the Zaragoza police station, identified the murdered victim as Santos Batacan y Bonilla, married and a resident of Brgy. Macabucod, Aliaga, Nueva Ecija.
In the initial investigation, the incident occurred at 1:55 pm in Purok 3 Brgy. Carmen, Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija near the Barangay Hall.
According to the police, a concerned citizen called on the phone and informed the said information regarding the aforementioned shooting.
The police team immediately went to the place where the aforementioned incident happened.
In the investigation, it is said that the victim is currently crossing the highway with his wife Gema Batacan y Nasi in a blue/gray Mitsubishi RVR driven with plate number RCE 209 when they were allegedly hit by a Honda 155 motorcycle. which is black/red with no license plate and the suspect indiscriminately shot the businessman.
It was found that the suspect who shot the victim was wearing a red scarf and black glasses.
Meanwhile, the victim sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of the body or (6) bullet wounds from a .45 caliber gun.
Luckily, the victim’s wife was not hurt.
After the incident, the suspects quickly fled towards the south towards Brgy. Marawa, Jaen, Nueva Ecija. elsa navallo
