MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded a volcanic earthquake at Mayon Volcano according to the agency’s 8 am bulletin today, October 9.
According to Phivolcs, the ‘increased unrest’ in the volcano continues since it was raised from alert level 1 to alert level 2 this Friday.
Mayon’s crater glow is still visible and its crater continues to thicken.
The volcano also emitted a moderate amount of plumes that were blown in the west-southwest and southwest direction by the wind.
Phivolcs reminded the public that entering the six-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone of the Mayon Volcano is strictly prohibited.
It is said that it is also forbidden to fly a plane near it. RNT/JGC
