MASBATE – A suspected member of the New People’s Army leader was killed in a clash between the military and a rebel group in Cataingan, Masbate this Saturday, October 8.
This is the report released by the Philippine Army in which Major John Paul Belleza, public affairs chief of the 9th Infantry Division, confirmed that the deceased was identified as Lito Villaces Ajena alias “Cesar” of Field 2 of the Provincial Committee 4 – Bicol Regional Party Committee.
According to Belleza, the operation resulted from a tip from a concerned citizen that there were armed men in Barangay Liong.
The military immediately launched an operation that resulted in a 10-minute exchange of gunfire with the five suspected rebels past 6:30 in the morning, October 9.
Authorities later recovered Ajena’s lifeless body and weapons. RNT/JGC
