New Comelec commissioner sworn in

MANILA, Philippines – The new Commission on Elections Commissioner, Ernesto Maceda Jr., was sworn in before Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo.

Maceda was appointed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as ad interim Comelec Commissioner on October

It was warmly received by Comelec Chair George Erwin Garcia who was described as a veteran election lawyer and election law professor.

Maceda is also according to the Comelec a constitutionalist and trusted personality in the academy.

He currently teaches at the Ateneo Law School. He also taught election law, administrative law and constitutional law subjects at the City University of Manila, Far Eastern University and Arellano University.

Other than this, he is also a Master of Laws thesis professor at the PLM Graduate School of Law and was the Dean of the PLM College of Law from 2006 to 2015.

Maceda graduated from the Ateneo Law School, LL.B. and ranked 19th in the 1989 Bar Exam.

He also obtained an LL.M from Columbia University and is currently a candidate for Doctor of Public Administration at the University of the Philippines NCPAG. RNT/JGC
