MASBATE- The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Bicol region office reminded the public this Friday that eating all types of shellfish is strictly prohibited after testing positive for red tide in the coastal area of ​​Milagros, Masbate.

According to Nonie Enolva, spokesperson of BFAR – Bicol, the sample they took from the coast of Milagros tested positive for paralytic shellfish toxin or red tide.

BFAR-Bicol advises the public not to take, eat and sell all types of shellfish in the said area.

Fish can be eaten as long as it is cleaned properly and cooked well to avoid getting sick.

Meanwhile, the BFAR-Bicol red tide alert that was issued on October 6, in the city of Sorsogon has been withdrawn after the samples taken from Sorsogon Bay tested negative for red tide toxin in the confirmatory testing, laboratory examination.
