MANILA, Philippines – TV host and actor Vhong Navarro remains detained at the National Bureau of Investigation or NBI, a trusted source who is an official of the agency insists.
According to the source, there was no “special treatment” for Navarro.
However, he said the actor only needs to be temporarily separated from other detainees because many are said to have tested positive for COVID-19.
In addition, the 33 Chinese nationals who were POGO workers who were arrested by the NBI recently were not transferred to the Bureau of Immigration because there were so many of them that one floor of the NBI’s rented building in Quezon City was already occupied.
“Because the Chinese POGOs who were arrested by the NBI, instead of being transferred to the BI – the BI went to the NBI because there were too many of them – of course they went through the process, so many of them tested positive, but Vhong will also transfer them to other prisoner because he also went through that process. It’s only necessary to temporarily isolate because of the number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 but there is no special treatment,” the source said.
When asked why Navarro has not yet been transferred to the Taguig City Jail, the source said they have not received a court order for the actor’s jail transfer.
The official insisted, when there are no more positives among the detainees, Navarro will join the other ordinary individuals detained in the agency’s detention facility. Jocelyn Tabangcura-Domenden
