THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration ANNOUNCED that the north has begun and the southwest has also passed.
Is that === the summer has started and the rainy season has ended.
However, PAGASA says there is a La Nina that will bring bad weather.
And it says we should prepare for rains that create floods, landslides and other destructive effects of La Nina.
STORMS ALSO BE PREPARED
Along with La Nina, we should also remember that there are more typhoons coming that in our history are still in November and Christmas season.
And they all became ferocious and terrifying because of the injuries they carried.
Do you remember Hurricane Winnie in November 2004 that killed 1,593?
November 2006 when typhoon Reming struck and killed 1,400 people.
It was followed by Yolanda in November 2013 which killed more than 6,300 people.
In December 2011, Sendong passed through Mindanao and killed 2,546 people.
In December 2012, Pablo attacked Mindanao and killed around 2,000 people.
Hurricanes create deadly floods, landslides and more.
So we must prepare against hurricanes and not just against La Nina.
GOOD START AND NEWS
Amidst the threat of La Nina and the unstoppable arrival of storms, there is good news in the beginning of the north.
For farmers whose crops were damaged by typhoon Karding, the months of October and November, others in December, begin again to prepare the fields to plant again.
And when the months of February, March and April come, the harvests are there.
Farmers can expect a good harvest because there will be no more storms in the months of January and February, which are the beginning of the ripening of balay grains.
Because of this, farmers can hope that they will be able to recover, at least a little, their losses during the passage of super typhoon Karding.
The period from October to November-December has good news for everyone.
The Christmas season that begins in the month of October usually brings relief to many people’s lives.
In October-November, the goods are prepared for the Christmas season and when December comes, everything is no longer busy with trade.
Especially since there are already millions of workers in factories and offices who will receive their 13th month pay at bonus.
There are also the shipments of overseas Filipino workers that will provide life to millions of Filipino families and even the goods that earn money.
The Marcos government will also shower many blessings on the people.
Although many will save because we are still in a time of crisis with the war in Russia and Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic and others, many will really feel relief.
Hopefully, all of our preparations against calamities and Christmas will be meaningful.
